Level One Writing

The restaurant is elegant and beautiful. From the door, you can see a counter. Behind the counter, there are three areas, "A", "B", and "C". "A" area has 8 booths near the window. "B" area has 9 tables in the middle. "C" area has 4 booths and 5 tables in the corner. Next to the "C" area is a bar. It has many kinds of wine and soft drinks. Next to the bar is a big fish tank. There is a big fish in the fish tank.

Behind the bar is a kitchen. On the left side, there's a washing machine. On the right side, there's a long dish counter. They put food on the counter, then the waiter takes it out.

It's a very good restaurant. The food is delicious and the waiters always give good service. So they always have good business and everybody likes it.

MAY'S DAILY ACTIVITIES

I live in a small apartment with my husband. The apartment is near school, so it is convenient.

I get up early every morning because I always read every morning. After I read, I prepare our breakfast. We usually eat a fried egg, a small cake, half of a red apple and a glass of orange juice. The breakfast is important. I always call my husband to get up after I prepare breakfast. Then we eat breakfast together.

We go to school at about 7:30. We usually go to school by walking because we think walking is good exercise. We arrive at school at about 7:50 and we start class at 8:00. We learn grammar, reading and composition practice.

After morning class, I eat lunch with my husband and my classmates. We always bring lunch. The lunch usually has some rice, chicken, fish, and vegetables. After lunch, we start the class at. 1:20. We learn conversation.

After afternoon class, we walk to the library. We usually have a lot of homework, so we study until about 5:30. Then we walk home. When we are eating dinner, we also watch television. We go to bed after we finish watching television.

My days are busy, but I like English and school life. I am very happy.

THE PUB

In Taiwan, the young people's favorite place is the pub. Some pubs are big and some are small. My favorite pub is a big one in downtown. The name is "Kiss."

It's always full of people at night. It has singers and a band. They always have the best music. It has a big bar. You can order any kind of drink. Sometimes they hold games. Many people join in. It's very interesting.

In the pub, most people are listening to the music or talking. Some are playing cards. Some look bored. They are drinking alone. Some look tired. They are taking a break. Everybody enjoys it.

The pub is popular in Taiwan. I usually go there with my friends. Every time, I enjoy it and relax. It's great.

GEORGE'S DAILY ACTIVITIES

I lived in a small apartment in Tainan, Taiwan. I didn't live with my friends because I like quiet. I was a student at Kusan college. I have to go to school six days a week.

Every morning I must get up early because the first class always begins at 8:00. Sometimes I make my breakfast by myself. Sometimes I buy hamburgers and a drink on my way to school. After breakfast, I always go to school by motorcycle.

I arrive at school at about 7:50. My classroom is on the fourth floor. I have to walk up the stairs. I always greet my classmates. I stay in class until 12:00.

After class, I have lunch with my classmates in the school's restaurant. We usually talk to each other about interesting things when we eat lunch. After lunch, I have to continue my class. When I finish my class, I always ride my motorcycle to my apartment to watch TV.

In the evening, I sometimes make dinner, but I usually buy a dinner box. Sometimes I invite my friends to eat out together. After dinner, I do my homework and study it. Then I fall into bed.

I miss my classmates and friends so much. After all I study in Kosan college. But I like my life in California now. One day I'll be back in Taiwan and visit all my friends.

DAILY ACTIVITIES

I live in a house with the Hamilton family. They are 70 years old. They have six girls and four boys. Their children do not stay home because they are living in another city. My host father, host mother and I always spend time together. I have classes five days a week. After school, I study English and exercise at home.

I get up at 6:00 every morning. I take a shower before I eat breakfast. I always eat a piece of toast, egg, cereal and a glass of orange juice. It is a big breakfast. I put on make-up after I brush my teeth. I leave for school at 7:30. 1 go to school by my host father's car.

I usually arrive at school at 7:40. My classes start at 8:00 to 4:00. The classes are long every Monday and Wednesday.

At lunch time, Tomoko and I eat lunch. She is my best friend. Sometimes a few people eat lunch with us. After lunch, I take classes.

After school, my host father picks me up at 4:00. 1 come back home and I exercise. I eat dinner with my host family at 6:00. 1 study English and do homework. I take a shower after I listen to music. I go to bed at 1 1:00.

I like spending time with my host family because they are very kind. They teach me to study. I want to spend a long time with them.

IN THE LIBRARY

I am an ACLP student. I study English. I sometimes need to go to wazzu the library with my friend. The library is a building of five stories.

The grand floor is near the entrance and there is a long counter and several librarians are standing behind the counter. They are on the right side of the circulation desk and on the left side of the reference desk. There are many computers near this desk.

Near the center of the library there are shelves and shelves of books. Some students are walking up and down the aisles. They are trying to find special books for their classes.

In the back of the library, there are rows of tables. Many students are studying at these tables. I sometimes study in here. I go there to study here with my friends. We argue about questions about homework or other things.

The library is a great place. It is also an important place for students and other people. So I like it.

Dear Mother and Father,

The weather is nice in California. Today is Sunday, so we don't go to school. It is early school morning and I am sitting in front of the desk. I open the window. The air is fresh and clean. There are a lot of plants and flowers in the garden. Some of the children are riding their bicycles. It is a good picture.

We are fine. Joe and I go to the from Monday to Friday. Friday starts the weekend. We usually go to the supermarket. Sometimes we buy food and sometimes we just look. We like to use coupons. It is funny. We always bring our lunch. There is some rice, chicken, fish, and vegetables. Everyday I prepare my homework and our lunch, so I am busy.

We hope that you are fine. Mother, how is your health? It is best for you not to worry about me. How is my younger sister's noodle store? Is it good? How is my niece? Does my small niece still remember me? Please say hello to them for me. Please write soon. I miss and bless you.

THE HANAMI RIVER CYCLING ROAD

On holidays, my friend- and I sometimes cycle on the Hanami river cycling road. It is not far from our home.

The Hanami river cycling road is very long. There are cherry trees along the road. In the spring, there are beautiful pink flowers in the trees. There is a small and old café at the side of the road, and there is a basketball court near the café. There are leisure facilities at the side of the road.

It is a sunny day and there are many people. There are all kinds of people. Some are young and some are old. Some of the people are cycling on the road. Some young people are playing in leisure facilities. Some old people are jogging. We are playing basketball. Some of the people are fishing at the river. A few are working and talking to -'their friends.

The Hanami river cycling road is a pleasant place to spend the holiday. My friend and I like to go there.

IN THE LIBRARY

My English is not good, so I often go to the library after class. I usually walk to the library.

I like the fifth floor because it is elegant. I see a lot of green plants and blue sky from the fifth floor windows. Near the entrance, there are shelves like and shelves of books. Some students are walking up the aisles. They are serious and quiet.

Near the center of the fifth floor in the library, there are rows of tables. If I am tired, I will walk to along the shelves and shelves of books. I always like fable stories.

Near the windows of the fifth floor in the library, there are many sofas and small tables. Students often sleep or read in here. The father is speaking stories to the children. The boy sits on the father's side. The girl sits on the father's legs. The picture is kind.

The library is a good place. It has many kinds of books. We can study and write in here. It is convenient.
